Dear Friends,

I’m so glad you took the time to stop by. I hope you are inspired by the content on this site and more importantly you are reminded that God has a plan for your life. You are not alone and you are not a mistake.

My story is a long one filled with depression, anorexia and cutting. But it is also one of healing, hope, and God’s faithfulness.

In the depth of my anorexia, I questioned God and if he had a plan for me. I thought I must be a mistake because some girls had been created beautiful and I was…ugly. Or so I thought. At one of my darkest moments, I cried out to God and said, “God, I’m done. I can’t do this anymore. If you don’t intervene I’m going to die. I don’t know if it will be of my eating disorder or maybe cutting, but I’m done fighting.”

The craziest thing happened the next day…

God intervened.

I had been on the waiting list for a program called Mercy Ministries and they called the next day telling me I could enter the faith-based program in two weeks.

It was in that moment that I discovered that God is real and he cares for me. At Mercy, I learned that I was not a mistake, and God had created me for a purpose. I felt a calling on my life to help other women struggling with the things I had seen at Mercy or at the hospital.

After Mercy, I began writing my first Novel. I felt the call to write. So I wrote and a few years later started seeing success by being published in magazines. Then blogs, and websites a few years later. I was spreading the message of hope God had given me with the desire of one day becoming an inspirational novelist. I’m still working towards that goal. My novel, Beautiful Bones, is still in the works. You can find out more about my writing journey at my personal website, Shelbie Mae

A while back–maybe 2014–God placed it on my heart to start something called Not a Mistake Ministries (NAMM). It took several years of prodding and creative thoughts to get me to this moment ( I had been thinking of helping girls for years, but didn’t know how God wanted me to do that) but now in 2015 I am launching NAMM in hopes of reaching girls and women globally with the message found in Psalms 139.

I want this to be a safe place for girls to share their stories and love for God with peers so I am accepting submissions. I hope you are inspired.

Not a Mistake Ministries is Social Media based platform to encourage teens, gals, and women that they are not a mistake and they were created with a purpose. The basis behind this belief can be found in Psalms 139.  If you have a story to share please check out our submission guidelines.

Don’t ever forget that you are loved and precious.
